UNDER DEVELOPMENT - TAKING CUSTOM ORDERS ONLY - Hand made by Gary, this 18x14x7 shopping bag is a three layer, high strength, reinforced tote constructed using re-purposed material from our original coffee import bags. Coffee importtation sacs are made of varying grades of food grade jute from which the outer shell of the birdie bags are fabricated. Each jute panel is custom cut to feature the artwork originally printed on the bag, then sewn together with a thick reinforcement layer of ieta cloth or buckrum and finished with a 100% cotton interiour liner. Our Tacsew T111 walking foot sewing machine fitted with .011 monofiliment thread is used for the main heming processes. For layer binding and fring hems a professional singer 20U zigzag machine is employed with .07 monofiliment making for a durable and professional grade finish. Bags are made here in charleston by us, which means no trasportation emissions making for a virtually zero carbon emission production process.
For every bag sold, all proceeds go to support our wild migratory bird rehabilitation operation, FOTF. When you buy a bag you are essentially supporting a rehab patient or group, you will also receive a photo and/or case study of a rehab patient suitable for framing.
These bags are purly a labor of love, they cannot be compaired to bags imported from low labor cost countrys. Each bag is from our own coffee import inventory, from coffees that I roasted myself. Each bag is selected by me, cut to feature the unique artwork and defects in the bags. Sewn by me on high cost equipment using only the highest quality liners and reinforcement materials, matched and selected for each bag.
